Birchwood Beacon

The Tennis Foundation awarded Birchwood Leisure and Tennis Complex beacon status this week for its consistently high quality, affordable community tennis programmes.

On Wednesday 5 October the LTA President, Peter Bretherton travelled to the borough to present a plaque to Cllr Kate Hannon, executive board member for leisure, culture and community services in recognition of the centre’s contribution to tennis in the area.

To become a ‘Beacon’ site, facilities must offer access to inclusive tennis; plus quality, affordable coaching and regular competitions for all ages and abilities.

The courts at the Complex on Benson Road have recently been refurbished to enable play all year round for all members of the community.
