What is QUEST?
- QUEST is the UK Quality Scheme for Sport and Leisure.
- It is THE recognised industry standard for the management of sport and leisure facilities.
- It is endorsed by all four home country Sports Councils, Chief Leisure Officers Association, Institute of Sport and Recreation Management, Institute of Leisure and Amenity Management, Local Government Association, Leisure Management Contractors Association and the Fitness Industry Association.
How are you measured/audited?
- QUEST is a framework for managing sports and leisure facilities.
- It provides both an approach to continuous improvement and focuses on best practice principles for the sport and leisure industry. It forces you to challenge, compare, consult and compete.
- Targets four key areas: Facilities Operation, Customer Relations, Staffing and Service Development and Review.
- Details 156 key best practice standards, principles and case studies against which you are measured.
How did Select Leisure prepare?
- Set up a Select Leisure corporate working group to ensure all leisure centres were involved.
- Targeted areas of weakness and further developed strengths.
- Involved our staff and our customers.
- Developed a ‘can-do’ culture.
Gained support from other sections within Leisure, Culture and Heritage and the council.
How did Select Leisure do?
- Gained accreditation across the five Select Leisure centre, with results ranging from 64% - 75%. Impressive outcomes for facilities being audited for the first time. The range of scores is mainly due to the periods between audits and each centre learning from the previous assessment.
- Showed particular strengths in the planning process, objective setting process and corporate process. (Acknowledged that there was a clear and identifiable ‘Golden Thread’ running through the organisation).
- Excelled in Health and Safety, Sports Development and Green initiatives.
