Community initiatives

 

Select Leisure is committed to establishing community initiatives and is focused to ensure equality of access and allow stakeholders to shape the centres programme. Every opportunity is taken to strengthen partnership working and provide clear and identifiable pathways for all the community.

Birchwood Leisure & Tennis Complex initiatives   
Birchwood Leisure & Tennis Complex works in partnership with Birchwood High School by introducing a level of flexibility to allow pupils into the fitness room and dance studio during curriculum time to assist with the reduction in obesity and extend junior fitness sessions to widen grass roots participation. We also offer flexibility through our T.D.O. (Tennis Development Officer) in allowing local primary and secondary school pupils to play tennis and be taught by qualified LTA coaches to widen grass roots participation. The centre also supports the North East Neighbourhood Policing Unit by offering a level of flexibility to allow selected youths into fitness room during certain times to assist with the reduction in anti social behaviour and extend junior fitness sessions to widen grass roots participation.

The centre works closely with a wide variety of partners to deliver the following community initiatives:
day care facilities, Warrington Surestart, Primary Care Trust via Reach for Health scheme, Gorse Covert Day Centre.

Broomfields Leisure Centre community initiatives
Broomfields Leisure Centre operates in conjunction with Bridgewater High School and their sixth form college under a joint use agreement.  This agreement gives pupils exclusive use of the sports hall, all weather pitches and pool during the day in term time. The centre has introduced a level of flexibility to allow pupils into the fitness room during curriculum time to assist with the reduction in obesity and extend junior fitness sessions to widen grass roots participation. Support is offered to club partnerships in Warrington by assisting in the Clubmark initiative and promoting pathways and exit strategies for participants.

The centre works closely with a wide variety of partners to deliver the following community initiatives:
FIA adopt a school; Warrington Primary Care Trust via the Reach for Health scheme; Warrington Disability Partnership; Warrington Triathlon Club and local primary schools  
 
Great Sankey Leisure Centre community initiatives
Great Sankey Leisure Centre operates in conjunction with Great Sankey High School and their sixth form college under a joint use agreement.  This agreement gives pupils exclusive use of the sports hall, all weather pitches and pools during the day in term time. The centre works in partnership with the local high schools and has introduced a level of flexibility to allow pupils into the pools and fitness room during curriculum time to assist with the reduction in obesity and extend junior fitness sessions to widen grass roots participation. The centre also supports club partnerships in Warrington by assisting in the Clubmark initiative and promoting pathways and exit strategies for participants.

The centre works closely with a wide variety of partners to deliver the following community initiatives:
Day care facilities; Warrington Fitkidz; Warrington Surestart; Age Concern; FIA Adopt A School; Primary Care Trust via Reach for Health scheme; UK On Line and the Mobile Food Network.
 

Woolston Leisure Centre community initiatives
The centre works in partnership with the local high schools and has introduced a level of flexibility to allow pupils into the pools and fitness room during curriculum time to assist with the reduction in obesity and extend junior fitness sessions to widen grass roots participation. The centre also supports club partnerships in Warrington by assisting in the Clubmark initiative and promoting pathways and exit strategies for participants.

The centre works closely with a wide variety of partners to deliver the following community initiatives:
Day care facilities; Mobile Food Network; Age Concern; Warrington Youth Federation and the Warrington Toy & Leisure Library and Primary Care Trust via Reach for Health scheme
